The following takes the laser level as the focus to introduce the general usage process in detail. The bubble level and electronic level can refer to the core steps to adapt the operation.

1. Environmental Preparation: Select a stable, vibration-free, and location away from heat sources and strong light. Avoid vibration and temperature variations (ideally at 20 ± 2℃) that may affect the measurement accuracy. If using a laser leveler outdoors, choose the green light model and pair it with a shading board to reduce the interference of strong light on the laser line. 
2. Instrument inspection: Check whether the appearance of the level meter is damaged, and whether the measuring surface (or the laser lens) is clean, without scratches or oil stains; for the laser level meter, check if the battery is fully charged; for the bubble level meter, check if the bubble tube is intact, without leakage or turbidity. 
3. Zero position calibration: This is a crucial step for ensuring measurement accuracy. Place the level gauge on a standard plate with known level, wait until the bubble stabilizes (or the electronic display reading stabilizes), and record the initial reading; then rotate the level gauge by 180° and place it at the same position, read the new value. The difference between the two readings is half of the zero position error. If the error exceeds the allowable range, adjust it to the zero position by using the adjustment screws provided by the instrument. For laser level gauges, the calibration can be completed quickly through the "self-calibration function", and the specific operation can be referred to the instrument manual.

1.  Fixing the instrument: Select the placement method based on the scene. Placing on a flat surface such as a table or the ground is possible directly. Ensure that the bottom of the leveler is tightly in contact with the surface and there is no suspension or shaking. If the surface is not flat or if high-altitude work is required, the leveler can be fixed on a tripod. Adjust the height of the tripod to make the instrument approximately level. 
2. Fine leveling: Turn on the power of the level instrument (laser level), observe the position of the bubble (or the electronic display), and slowly adjust the angle of the instrument or the height of the tripod until the bubble is stable in the center of the scale (bubble level), or the electronic display shows "0°" (electronic level), and the laser line presents a standard horizontal/vertical state (laser level). During the leveling process, move slowly to avoid violent shaking that causes the bubble to shift.

1. Horizontal Measurement: Place the level gauge along the horizontal direction of the object being measured. Once the bubble (or laser line) stabilizes, read the data. The bubble level gauge reads the number of grids the bubble deviates from the center, and calculates the tilt height based on the scale value; the laser level gauge directly observes whether the laser line coincides with the surface being measured. If they coincide, it is horizontal, and the deviation distance is the tilt deviation; the electronic level gauge directly reads the tilt angle and deviation value displayed on the screen. 
2. Vertical Measurement: Rotate the level instrument by 90° and place it along the vertical direction of the object being measured. Repeat the leveling and reading steps mentioned above to determine if the object is vertical. Some laser level instruments can directly switch to the vertical laser line without the need to rotate the instrument, making the operation more convenient. 
3. Long-distance/Area Measurement: When measuring long-sized workpieces or large areas such as floors and walls, the segmented measurement method can be adopted. The measured area can be divided into several equal sections, and each section can be measured and the data recorded separately. Finally, the overall tilt situation can be determined through summary and analysis. The laser level gauge can directly project long-distance laser lines, quickly delineate the reference line, and is suitable for large-scale construction.
